        Cabbage Leaf Experiment(Science)

Cabbage Leaf Experiment:

Explore how a plant gets water and nutrients through its vascular system.

Materials needed:

• Cabbage leaves

• Glasses or jars

• Food coloring

• Spoons 

• Paper towels

Directions:

1. Fill glass jars 1/3 of the way with 

cold water.

2. Add a few drops of different 

colored food coloring to each jar 

and stir.

3. Place one individual cabbage leaf 

into each jar.

4. Have children monitor the cabbage 

leaves over the next few days and 

talk about what is happening.
